To get to know the city, start your visit at
Fredericia Bymuseum (Town Museum). Here,
you’ll discover its unique history as a royal fortress,
a religious refuge and later a garrison and industrial town. You’ll also learn about the Battle of
Fredericia in 1849, a key event in Danish history.
AFTERNOON
Time for one of the city’s main attractions:
Fredericia Vold. These impressive ramparts are
among the oldest and best-preserved forti昀椀cations in Northern Europe. Various routes invite
you to explore the area, and a visit to the Bunker
Museum adds an extra layer to the experience.
Don’t forget your headphones …
… download the Useeum app and listen to the
podwalk Voldens Vidner, which takes you
through the dramatic days of the siege of
32 / THE HEART OF JUTLAND
Fredericia and the decisive battle between
Danish and German soldiers on 6 July 1849.
Still hungry for history?
