Billund is known as a capital for children, but there’s plenty here for
adults too. Culture, history and special places are all close together,
leaving you free to choose where to begin.

MOTIFS FROM NORTHERN NORWAY
BY SVEND AAGE MADSEN
Mark
Galleri Sam
The scent of fresh hay,
cheerful piglets and cows
grazing on lush meadows
welcome you to
Mark Museum. At the
Karensminde Museum
Farm, history becomes
tangible among barns, 昀椀elds
and kitchen gardens. The
exhibitions explore how
farming was practised in
the past and what everyday
life was like on the Jutland
heath. Lively, hands-on and
surrounded by nature.
At the edge of the forest,
a few kilometres outside
Billund, Galleri Sam
presents Nordic art in a
relaxed and intimate setting. Exhibitions change
regularly, so it’s worth
checking the
gallery’s website.
Grindsted Engsø
Grindsted Engsø near Mark is an arti昀椀cial
lake created in the 1970s. A 昀椀ne network
of walking, running and cycling paths
circles the water and continues along
the Grindsted Å (river), making it ideal
for outdoor enthusiasts. Please note that
swimming is not permitted.
